Description

This exceptionally rare and historically significant royal presentation photograph of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, dating to circa 1982, is a one-of-a-kind artifact. Measuring approximately 6.75 inches by 7.5 inches, the photograph features the original manuscript signature of King Fahd, hand-signed in ink. It is preserved in its original, excellent condition and includes the accompanying royal presentation folder, further attesting to its authenticity and regal provenance. As an extraordinary example of royal memorabilia, this piece is of museum quality and highly desirable for collectors and historians alike.

King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (1920, 1921, or 1923 – 1 August 2005) served as the King and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia from 13 June 1982 until his passing in 2005, making him the longest-reigning monarch in Saudi history. A member of the prominent Sudairi Seven, Fahd was the eighth son of King Abdulaziz, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and played a pivotal role in the country’s political and administrative development.

Before ascending to the throne, Fahd held several key government positions, including Minister of Education (1953–1962) and Minister of Interior (1962–1975). He was appointed Crown Prince in 1975 following the assassination of King Faisal and became the de facto leader during King Khalid's reign due to the latter’s declining health. Upon King Khalid's death in 1982, Fahd officially ascended to the throne and is credited with modernizing aspects of Saudi governance, most notably through the introduction of the Basic Law of Saudi Arabia in 1992, which formalized the kingdom's administrative and political structures.

Despite a debilitating stroke in 1995, which curtailed his ability to perform his full official duties, Fahd’s reign left a lasting legacy. His half-brother Crown Prince Abdullah acted as de facto regent from 1995 and succeeded him upon his death in 2005.

This presentation photograph captures King Fahd at a critical moment in Saudi Arabia’s history, marking the early years of his reign when he solidified his role as a modernizing leader. Items personally signed by King Fahd are exceedingly scarce, particularly those dating to his early reign as king, making this a unique and valuable piece of royal history. It is guaranteed authentic and stands as a tangible connection to one of Saudi Arabia’s most influential and longest-serving monarchs.
