LOT-LSE177. For your consideration is an exceedingly rare and historically important original antique c.1967 H.M. Queen Elizabeth II official issue Buckingham Palace royal porcelain soup bowl, commissioned by Elizabeth II, by royal warrant, for serving members of the royal household.
The dinner soup bowl features the royal monogram cipher for Queen Elizabeth II, ERII, with crown. The porcelain mark is Crown Ducal, 1967, in blue. The diameter of the royal ERII service measures approximately: 9.75\”. Height is: 1.5\”. Elizabeth II soup bowl is original. Condition is fine. Museum quality. Authentic and correct.
Crown Ducal was a trade name used by A.G. Richardson & Co Ltd. They were founded in 1915, and production continued until its sale in 1974 to Wedgwood. During this time, Crown Ducal was an important brand in middle-market tableware. Many patterns were enormously popular, especially in the United States, where the collectors market remains strong today.
Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She had been queen regent of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime and was the monarch of 15 realms at her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days is the longest of any British monarch and the second-longest of any sovereign state.
