Description
LOT-C01. For your consideration is a rare and important mint uncirculated DCAM proof 2024 Bahamas 50th Anniversary limited edition commemorative quarter (25 cent) coin.
Numista rates the rarity of this coin as extremely rare, 90/100. Although this legal tender Bahamas coin was designed for general circulation, very few of these new quarters have been released.
The currency of the Bahamas is restricted. This means that visitors are not allowed to leave the country with more than $200 in Bahamian currency.
What you are purchasing is a mint proof coin from an OGP (original government packaging) / OBP (original bank packaging) roll. The roll originally came from a sealed monster box of 50 rolls produced by The Royal Canadian Mint.
The coin you will receive has not been circulated and is in mint condition.
In commemoration of its 50th Anniversary, the Central Bank of The Bahamas released into circulation a painted version of its twenty-five cent circulation coin on 3rd June 2024.
The new coin, which generally maintains the specifications of the existing coin, is the first painted circulation coin issued by the Central Bank of The Bahamas.
A round coin weighing 5.10 g, and measuring 24.26 mm in diameter and 1.78 mm in thickness, has a milled edge, bearing on the obverse the Coat of Arms of The Bahamas together with the words “Commonwealth of The Bahamas” which forms a crown around the Coat of Arms.
Elements of the Coat of Arms are painted blue, white, pink, and green, highlighting the blue marlin, flamingo, and conch shell. Below the Coat of Arms is the date.
On the reverse is an artist’s rendering of a native sloop, infused with red, white, and brown paint, in sea painted blue, near an island, together with the words “THE CENTRAL BANK OF THE BAHAMAS”, “50th ANNIVERSARY 1974-2024”, and “25 CENTS”.
Each coin will be posted fully protected in a 2.0\” x2.0\” paper coin flip with a transparent plastic window.
